Student Course Policy & Requirements
(Applies to AHA BLS, ACLS, PALS, ASLS, and Heartsaver Courses)

1. Purpose
This policy establishes standardized requirements for student participation in American Heart Association (AHA) courses conducted by Rescue Ready Indiana. It is intended to ensure compliance with AHA Program Administration Manual (PAM) guidelines and to maintain course integrity, documentation standards, and certification requirements.
2. Course Materials Requirement
Students are responsible for obtaining all required course materials prior to the course date.
Materials may be purchased during registration or independently via approved sources such as shop.heart.org.
Required materials must be available at the time of the course.
Failure to have required materials may result in denial of participation or rescheduling.
3. Online Course & Precourse Requirements (HeartCode / Prework)
For courses utilizing HeartCode (blended learning) or required precourse assignments (ACLS/PALS):
All required online modules and/or precourse work must be completed prior to attending the in-person session or skills check-off.
Students must:
Bring a printed copy of completion certificate(s) to class
Email a PDF copy of completion certificate(s) prior to arrival
Acceptable documentation includes:
HeartCode completion certificate
ACLS/PALS precourse self-assessment results (if applicable)
Failure to provide required documentation may result in denial of participation or rescheduling.
4. HeartCode Skills Session Process
HeartCode course fees typically include a skills session unless otherwise specified.
After completing the online portion, students must schedule a skills session with the instructor and provide proof of completion.
Skills sessions are completed within a timeframe determined by the Training Site.
5. Payment Policy
Courses must be paid in full prior to the course date unless invoicing is approved.
Instructor courses require full payment in advance unless otherwise arranged.
Accepted payment methods may include credit card, invoice, or other approved methods.
No-Show / Cancellation
Cancellations with less than 48 hours’ notice may result in forfeiture of course fees and a rescheduling fee.
Refunds
Course payments are non-refundable.
Online courses, HeartCode keys, and consumable materials are non-refundable.
6. Department / Third-Party Payment
Payment terms are typically net 3–45 days unless otherwise specified.
Certification cards are issued after payment is received in full.
Outstanding balances beyond 45 days may be reassigned to the individual participant.
7. Course Attendance & Completion Requirements
Full attendance and participation are required.
All required skills and evaluations must be completed according to AHA standards.
Failure to meet requirements results in no certification issued.
8. Professional Conduct
Professional, respectful, and safe behavior is expected during all courses.
Disruptive or unsafe behavior may result in removal from the course and ineligibility for certification.
9. Training Environment & Equipment Use
Courses involve hands-on training with manikins and medical training equipment.
Participants are expected to follow instructor guidance for proper equipment use and safety procedures.
Equipment and training environments must be used appropriately to maintain safety and functionality.
10. Certification Issuance (AHA eCards)
AHA eCards are issued after:
Successful course completion
Required documentation is received
Payment is verified
Certification is issued in accordance with AHA Training Center and PAM guidelines.
